Creator Fest

Amplify + Patreon bring to life a dynamic creator-first experience...

Challenge

Patreon was founded with a mission to get creators paid. After more than a decade, the platform was relaunching with a new brand and suite of tools designed to help creators grow their communities, free their creative expression, and monetize their work.

The team came to Amplify to help bring to life its vision for a creator-first experience future inspired by the reimagined Patreon platform that would debut more space for community conversations, subsequently creating an exciting way for creators to share their work.

Insight + Strategy

Acknowledging the types of challenges creators face in today’s world, i.e. disempowerment, disconnection, compromising their work to service social media norms, and being pressured to only focus on the bottom line, it was integral to use those communal frustrations as fuel to design a dynamic, creator-first experience that brought to life Patreon’s brands values + positioning as well as celebrate the new suite of tools created to empower + enable the community.

Solution

Patreon Creator Fest

Patreon Creator Fest was an event built to bring creators from all backgrounds together to connect, create, and get inspired. Patreon Creator Fest took place in LA’s historic Fashion District at City Market Social house – an airy, modern warehouse, that served as a blank canvas for Patreon to make their mark for this inaugural experience.

Through dynamic + colorful design, leveraging multi-media structures and a range of make-shift materials, our aim for the over-all experience was to bring to life Patreon’s vision for a creator-led future – one where creativity is not a commodity, but a venerated craft. The newly launched Patreon logo and evolved brand identity was also peppered into the creative direction, serving as a visual nod to the future of the platform.

In concert with the event backdrop, the programming was carefully curated for creators to include keynotes, informational product sessions, masterclasses, and performances – all designed to showcase the breadth of offerings + creative tools represented on the Patreon platform. Featured Creators included Jade Novah, Frank Warren of Post Secret, and the ‘Girls Next Level’ podcast hosts, Holly Madison and Bridget Marquardt. To keep the show moving, beloved podcaster, Kid Fury, was the master MC.

Most notably within the programming was an inspiring keynote by Jack Conte, the co-founder and CEO of Patreon. Jack shared a look back at the evolving relationship between creators and their fans as the internet has shifted – as has his vision for a creator-led future.

The event ended with a comedy showcase hosted by KevOnStage featuring comedian and social media influencer Tahir Moore, comedian and actress B. Simone, and comedian and actress Amanda Seales.

Results

Patreon Creator Fest was open to the public, with special attention + invitation given to their existing Patreon creator community.

Creator takeaways and social sentiment was supremely positive as well.

One testimonial read: "Today I joined Patreon for their first ever Creator Fest. In 2021 I made my first $1000 with their platform and it was a godsend as a creator laid off during the pandemic. Within 48 hours of launch, I had 100 patrons. Cheers Patreon!! I can’t wait for this new chapter… which I am building with you."
