Amplify + PlayStation up the ante for football fanatics...
As a key sponsor of the UEFA Champions League (UCL), PlayStation has been able to reach beyond its traditional audience each year, engaging with football fans as well as conventional gamers.
For the 8th year running, Amplify was challenged to host the UCL Festival and hero the supercharged PlayStation 4 Pro console and new virtual reality headset, PlayStation VR.
The UCL Festival provides an exclusive opportunity to test an array of new and innovative PlayStation releases, where gamers and football fans can immerse themselves fully in the PlayStation experience.
To bring PlayStation’s digital UCL platform - PlayStation FC, to life through engaging interactions and touch points, building an even stronger bridge between PlayStation and football fans.
Amplify designed a visually impactful two-tier stand at the UEFA Champions League Festival in Cardiff, filled with brand new PlayStation titles including the VR first-person space shooter, Farpoint and upcoming racing simulation game GT Sport.
Amplify brought the inside of the stand to life, hosting an array of experiences including a locker room environment, the world’s biggest team photo, bespoke PlayStation trophies and a photo booth where gamers could be transformed into a PlayStation F.C. football player card.
Upstairs, the premium balcony space sported a perfect view across the main festival stage and beyond to Cardiff Bay, acting as a hub for celebrity guests throughout the event including former goalkeeper David James MBE and Luis Garcia.
Outside, a football freestyler in PlayStation FC kit entertained the queues by performing tricks, whilst a large screen showed off PlayStation content along with real time social media updates using the hashtag #playstationfc.
Fans were also able to win tickets to the sought after Champions league final by beating the top score in PlayStations’ acclaimed VR football game Headmaster. UEFA Champions League Festival guests were able to enjoy a wider brand experience that celebrated PlayStations’ initiatives as well as PlayStations’ passion for football, at an event designed to take them even closer to UCL final action.
